A former federal lawmaker from Jigawa State, Hon. Safiyanu Ubale, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), citing the need for political realignment in response to the evolving national landscape.

Safiyanu Ubale made the announcement in a letter signed on Sunday, explaining that recent developments in the country’s political environment called for a strategic shift to a platform better positioned to drive meaningful change.
In the letter, he stated: “Considering the current trajectory of the nation and the evolving political landscape, I find it necessary to align with another political party that offers the best opportunity to effect real change.”

Ubale, who represented his constituency at the National Assembly from 1999 to 2015 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), later joined the NNPP, serving in various capacities at the local, state, and national levels, particularly in Taura Local Government Area.
While Safiyanu Ubale did not officially confirm his next political destination, indications suggest he may be joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
