Supporters of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso have formed a new political pressure group, the Obi–Kwankwaso Movement.
This comes ahead of the African Democratic Congress presidential primaries.
In addition to appointing state and zonal coordinators to spearhead its mobilisation, the group, which declared its formation in Abuja on Monday, also claimed to have created structures throughout the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement released in Abuja, the movement’s National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, also revealed this. He further described the initiative as a coalition of political groups that includes the African Democratic Congress, Kwankwasiyya, the Obidient Movement, and the New Nigeria People’s Party.
The recent move just before the primaries signals a fresh realignment within the opposition coalition, amid growing uncertainty over who will clinch the ADC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027.

He said, “Nigeria stands at a defining crossroads. Today, as our people endure the weight of unprecedented economic hardship, the soaring cost of living.
And the persistent shadow of insecurity, the Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement formally announces the unveiling of its national and state structures.
When contacted, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, verified the move.
He further confirmed that the group was pursuing a unified ticket under ADC in coordination with Obi structures in place.
