Abba Yusuf described the act as shameful, unacceptable, and contrary to the values of the state.

Governor Yusuf also dissociated himself, his administration, and the people of Kano from the incident, stressing that it does not reflect the cultural or religious standards of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

The governor made the remarks while speaking at the Third Special Prayer for Lasting Peace held at the Government House, where 4,444 Qur’anic reciters gathered to pray for peace, stability, and development in Kano State and Nigeria at large.

He said the conduct of the youths was inconsistent with his administration’s “Kano First” agenda and violated Islamic teachings that promote modesty, discipline, and respect.

“Our youths should represent hope and progress, not be used as instruments of ridicule or moral decline,” he said.

Governor Yusuf also cautioned political actors against using young people for selfish political interests, warning that such actions could harm society and weaken moral values.

He urged politicians to lead responsibly, avoid inciting youths, and remain committed to the Kano First agenda instead of promoting disorder or disrespect.

“I appeal to my colleagues in politics to set good examples, stop encouraging insults, and focus on development rather than pushing our children into indecent behaviour,” he added.

The governor Abba Yusuf further called on the youths involved in the incident to seek forgiveness and apologise for the embarrassment caused to the state.

He also warned against the exploitation of young people in political activities, noting that it poses a serious threat to the moral and social fabric of society.

The incident reportedly occurred last week when some youths were seen celebrating on the streets of Kano with underwear, singing and dancing.
