The Osun State Police Command has dismissed reports of an alleged assassination attempt on Adebayo Adeleke, son of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The police described the claim as false, unverified, and capable of creating unnecessary panic among the public.
Earlier, the Osun State Government, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, had stated that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at Oke-Fia in Osogbo on Wednesday.
However, responding to enquiries, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, dismissed the allegation and gave details of the incident.

According to him, the case was reported on April 30, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m. by Adebayo Adeleke, who claimed he was being followed by a group of individuals on motorcycles while driving through the Olaiya–Alekuwodo area of Osogbo.
He said the individuals allegedly pointed at his vehicle and shouted words suggesting he was “the Governor’s son.”
Ojelabi further explained that after passing a traffic light, a white Toyota Venza without a registration number, along with unidentified men on motorcycles, continued trailing him.
He added that Adeleke and his associates were able to leave the area safely and made their way to the Government House at Oke-Fia, Osogbo.
TheOsun police spokesman noted that the complainant confirmed he was neither attacked nor physically harmed during the incident.
He added that the matter has been transferred to the Osun State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation, reiterating that the circulating reports are misleading and capable of causing unnecessary tension.

Backstory…
The controversy began after a report emerged claiming that Adebayo Adeleke, son of Ademola Adeleke, was the target of an alleged assassination attempt in Osogbo, Osun State.
According to the initial claim, he was reportedly trailed by unidentified individuals while driving through parts of the city, sparking concerns about a possible attack. The Osun State Government also issued a statement suggesting he narrowly escaped an incident at Oke-Fia.
However, the Osun State Police Command later clarified the situation, stating that what was reported as an “assassination attempt” was not confirmed. Instead, they explained that B-Red had reported being followed and felt threatened, but he was never attacked or physically harmed.
Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi added that the matter is under investigation to establish the true nature of the incident, while urging the public to avoid spreading unverified reports that could cause unnecessary panic.
In essence, the situation remains a reported security concern rather than a confirmed attack, with authorities still looking into the details.
