This was contained in a statement issued by the Benue State APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, and made available to journalists in Makurdi on Tuesday.

Omale said Rijau gave the clarification during a reconciliation meeting held in Makurdi on Sunday, where he also addressed concerns surrounding the issue of automatic tickets ahead of the party primaries.

According to him, Rijau emphasized party unity and the need to adhere strictly to electoral guidelines.

“Since 2022 and 2023 when we assumed leadership, we have remained one united family, and today we are still together as one,” Rijau said.

“Based on party directives and the provisions of the Electoral Act, primaries can be conducted either through consensus or direct voting. However, we have decided that Benue State will adopt the direct primary method, and that remains our position.”

Omale also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for convening the reconciliation meeting in Makurdi, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening unity and progress within the party in the state.

He said, “I sincerely appreciate President Bola Tinubu for initiating this reconciliation effort. It demonstrates his deep concern and commitment to Benue State and its people.”

Omale reaffirmed the loyalty of the Benue APC to the President, stating, “We remain fully committed to the President and assure him of our unwavering support. Benue stands firmly with you.”

He also praised Governor Hyacinth Alia for fostering unity within the party.

“The governor’s consistent efforts toward unity, strong leadership, and dedication have continued to strengthen the party across the state,” he added.

Omale further noted that the governor played a key role in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the reconciliation meeting and aligning state party structures with the President’s development agenda.
