Ogun East Senator, Gbenga Daniel, has cautioned Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, over what he described as actions that should not have been taken.

Gbenga Daniel stated that the progress and benefits the governor is currently enjoying are as a result of his own earlier efforts and contributions.

He made the remarks while reacting to the ongoing discussion around the construction of an airport project in Ogun State, which he said he initiated.

Speaking on TVC News programme Beyond The Headlines with Nifemi, the former governor said the airport project was the simplest part of the overall development process.

According to Gbenga Daniel, “Your Excellency, you will soon be a former governor. I told you before that a certain young man following you around would be the one to cause problems for your administration, I don’t want to mention his name.

“I hope you now realize that many of these issues were avoidable if certain decisions had been handled differently. There are boundaries in politics that should not be crossed.

“I served the state diligently, and if there is anything Governor Dapo Abiodun is benefiting from today, it is built on our earlier groundwork. Yes, he did the airport, but that was the easiest part—awarding the contract—because the funding was already available.

“When we were moving from place to place conducting environmental assessments, designing the project, acquiring land, and engaging stakeholders, we had very limited resources but still pushed the work forward.

“We secured the licence after extensive efforts, including engagements with several Presidents. He took over the licence, awarded the contract, and now claims full credit for the airport. How?”
