The Jigawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to deepening collaboration with traditional institutions and community leaders to boost trust and strengthen security efforts across the state.
Governor Umar Namadi stated this while declaring open a two-day paper presentation and interactive session for participants of Senior Course 48 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, Dutse.
Represented by Deputy Governor Engineer Aminu Usman, the governor emphasized that community involvement has become essential in tackling modern security challenges, noting that security responsibilities can no longer rest solely on the military.

He explained that the Jigawa state government has continued to work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, and grassroots security groups to improve intelligence gathering, foster peaceful coexistence, and build public confidence in security operations.
“We have intensified engagement with traditional rulers and community leaders to strengthen trust, improve intelligence gathering, and encourage peaceful coexistence. We also support grassroots participation in security initiatives,” he said.
Governor Namadi noted that through community policing structures, intelligence-sharing networks, and collaboration with local leaders, Jigawa has sustained relative peace and stability, allowing the government to focus on key development sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic empowerment.
He described the study tour theme, “Promoting Community Engagement for National Security and Prosperity,” as timely and highly relevant to the nation’s current security realities.
According to him, communities must be actively involved as key stakeholders in security matters, adding that today’s complex security challenges require stronger cooperation between the armed forces, civil authorities, and the people.
Earlier, Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, welcomed the participants and described the Armed Forces Command and Staff College as one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions for training operational and strategic leaders.
He said the study tour would offer participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and gain practical insights into governance, security management, and intergovernmental collaboration.
The SSG also reaffirmed the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola described Jigawa as peaceful, hospitable, and development-focused.
He revealed that the Jigawa state was chosen for the exercise because of its reputation as one of the most peaceful and stable states in Nigeria.
