Popular Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has shared his perspective on the connection between money, depression and happiness.
Egbuson said that contrary to the popular claim that money ends depression, money does not always guarantee happiness.
He also pointed out that even rich people can still be depressed.
The actor disclosed this while reacting to a viral post on X, which claimed that those battling depression would be free if they had enough money.
In a widely shared tweet, an X user had said, “You’re not depressed, you need 20 million naira.”
However, the actor appeared to have a different perspective. Reacting, he said, “It’s not always about money sha.”

His response sparked deeper conversations about causes of depression beyond poverty and financial hardship, with many people agreeing that money cannot cure sadness caused by anxiety, natural disasters, or the loss of a loved one.
However, others argued that financial struggles remain the leading cause of depression, insisting that many people would overcome it if they had enough money to solve their economic problems.
