Former House of Representatives member, Farah Dagogo has emerged as the Rivers State governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Dagogo won the party’s direct primaries with 64,700 votes, beating his nearest rival, Dr. Sokonte Davies, who polled 9,050 votes across all 319 wards in the state’s 23 local government areas.

Dr. Agu Bryan, chairman of the ADC Rivers State Governorship Primary Electoral Committee, announced the result.

Bryan said that Dagogo won only after the party conducted the primaries in line with its regulations. He made the announcement alongside other committee members and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While reacting to the win, Dagogo also stated that the win is for all members of the ADC and for every person in Rivers State who hopes for a brighter future for their community.

Recall that the Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress commenced its governorship primary election across the state yesterday May 2022.

Meanwhile, members of the party’s National Election Committee are also on the ground to supervise the process.

Earlier in the day, two of the seven governorship aspirants stepped down in support of Gabriel Pidomson, a former member of the House of Assembly and former Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
