On Sunday May 24, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the party’s flag and certificate of return as its 2027 presidential candidate.

According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the presentation will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja after the party completes the nationwide collation of its primary election results.

Onanuga said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday receive the certificate and flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.”

On Saturday, Onanuga earlier shared the statement on X and said APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, National Assembly lawmakers, and other party leaders will attend the event.

Meanwhile, this comes following the president’s victory in the APC presidential primaries across several states.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured a landslide victory in states including Kaduna, Rivers, Delta, Edo state among others.

BACKSTORY…

The president and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, cast their votes at his ward in Ikoyi, Lagos State, joining millions of party members to exercise their civil rights.

After the election, Tinubu said the people sustain democracy, not noise or borrowed platforms.

On a tweet on his official handle, he wrote, “Today, I participated in the APC Presidential Direct Primary at my ward in Ikoyi, Lagos, alongside my dear wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.”

“Democracy is not sustained by noise, speculation, or borrowed platforms. It is sustained by citizens who show up, party members who believe, institutions that endure, the grassroots, and a political family rooted in the people.”
