Delta Guber Shock: ZLP Candidate Nkwoala Emerges, Vows Bold Victory Over Governor Oborevwori in High-Stakes Contest

The 2027 governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Delta State, Emeka Nkwoala, has officially emerged. He previously served as the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in the state.

Nkwoala secured the party’s ticket during the governorship congress held in Asaba, which was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In his acceptance speech, Nkwoala stated that his administration would pursue its key objectives in close collaboration with his candidates for the National Assembly and House of Representatives.

He expressed confidence in his ability to challenge and defeat the incumbent Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in a free and fair election, citing his experience and track record within the ZLP.

While acknowledging Governor Oborevwori’s achievements in infrastructural development—particularly in partnering with Julius Berger for the construction of roads, bridges, and flyovers—Nkwoala maintained that the ZLP has developed a more strategic plan to surpass the current administration’s performance.

He noted that although the governor has performed well, the level of resources available to the state should translate into greater results. He added that unlike the incumbent, he has no political godfather, stating that he relies solely on divine guidance.

Nkwoala further highlighted that the party’s House of Assembly candidate, Sir Aghogho Green Meretin, a former Majority Leader of Ethiope West LGA and grassroots mobilizer, would play a key role in strengthening legislative support.

Nkwoala pledged that the ZLP administration would introduce free education to improve opportunities for future generations, expand access to affordable healthcare, and usher in a new phase of infrastructural development across Delta State.
