Austin Okai, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has insisted that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello will eventually be convicted in the ongoing corruption case against him.
Austin Okai made the remark while former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello continues to stand trial over allegations of N110.4 billion fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
His comments followed a ruling on Tuesday by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, which dismissed an application challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case.
Reacting to the development, Austin Okai, a Kogi-born socio-political activist, expressed confidence that the former governor would not escape punishment if found guilty.
He also urged politicians in Kogi State to align themselves with the ADC, suggesting that the political landscape in the state could change ahead of future elections.
In a post, Okai wrote: “Yahaya Bello is going to prison; it’s an obvious fact that he can’t escape it. Every wise politician in Kogi State should start identifying with the ADC now.
“APC rigging machines will not be able to function from Kuje.”
