The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Screening Committee has cleared former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Kogi West Senator Sunday Karimi to participate in the party’s senatorial primaries.
Both Yahaya Bello and Karimi were approved for the primaries scheduled to hold on Monday.
The committee confirmed a total of 17 aspirants across the three senatorial districts in the state for the forthcoming contests.
Yahaya Bello, whose eligibility had recently been the subject of public speculation, was officially listed as number 13 among the cleared aspirants for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.

He is expected to contest the ticket alongside Momoh Yusuf Obaro and Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke.
In Kogi West, Senator Sunday Karimi emerged as the consensus candidate following a stakeholders’ meeting chaired by Governor Usman Ododo at the Government House in Lokoja.
Although six other aspirants, including former Senator Smart Adeyemi and Aro Bamidele, were also cleared by the committee, political observers believe Karimi remains the favourite due to the consensus arrangement.
For Kogi East Senatorial District, seven aspirants were cleared to participate in the APC primary election. The list includes incumbent Senator Isah Echocho, Joseph Ameh, and Murtala Ajaka.
