Political analyst and founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Udenta Udenta, has alleged that the National Assembly is being used to amend the Electoral Act in a way that could favour President Bola Tinubu ahead of future elections.
Udenta made the claim on Thursday while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.
He also questioned the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission, alleging that the commission halted party primaries on May 30 under suspicious circumstances.
According to him, since the start of Tinubu’s administration in 2023, there have been growing concerns about shrinking civic space, increased pressure on labour unions, and what he described as the use of legal institutions against political opponents.
Udenta further claimed that the current political environment reflects mounting pressure on opposition parties and Nigeria’s multi-party democratic system.
