Ogba Oghenevewogaga, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the All Progressives Congress is increasingly worried about the growing strength of the opposition.
Speaking during an interview on News Central’s Breakfast Central on Friday, Oghenevewogaga alleged that the ruling party was behind the internal crisis currently affecting the ADC.
He insisted that the opposition party would emerge stronger under the leadership of its National Chairman, David Mark, and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to him, the APC sees the ADC as a serious political threat ahead of the 2027 general elections because it offers Nigerians an alternative platform.
He argued that growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians over economic hardship and insecurity has increased the demand for opposition voices.
Oghenevewogaga also criticised recent comments by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, regarding youth empowerment through vocational activities such as frying akara and roasting corn.
He described the remarks as reflective of what he called the APC’s failure to create opportunities capable of improving the lives of young Nigerians.
The ADC chieftain maintained that his party’s vision for governance would focus on broader economic empowerment, improved living conditions, and policies aimed at reducing poverty and insecurity across the country.
He expressed confidence that the party would continue to grow stronger as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
Political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections have continued to gather momentum as opposition parties intensify efforts to strengthen their structures and position themselves against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The African Democratic Congress has increasingly projected itself as a major opposition platform, especially amid growing public concerns over economic hardship, insecurity, and governance under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Recent internal disputes and legal battles within opposition circles have also fueled speculation about attempts to weaken rival parties ahead of the next election cycle.
With key political figures like David Mark and Atiku Abubakar linked to the party’s future direction, the ADC has remained vocal about its readiness to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
