The father of Prince Adebayo Adeniyi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has recounted how security operatives reportedly searched his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, while looking for his son.
Speaking in an interview with Ogbomoso Insight, Pa Adetunji Ajayi Adeniyi said the first operation took place at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, when armed operatives allegedly stormed his residence in the Technical College area of Ogbomoso.
According to him, he and his wife were awakened by unusual movements within their compound before the operatives began banging on the doors and windows, demanding entry into the house.
Adebayo Adeniyi alleged that some of the security personnel scaled the perimeter fence, damaging the barbed wire before breaking the padlock on the gate to allow others into the premises.
“We woke up and my wife said, ‘Aren’t people within our compound?’ Then they started banging at the door and windows that we should open the door to the main house.
“They had jumped over the fence, bending the barbed wires we installed. Those that jumped in broke the padlock at the gate to allow others to gain entrance.
“They surrounded the house. They insisted we should open the door, but I demanded to know who they were. They identified themselves as government security agents, so I opened the door.
“They said they were looking for Bayo. I told them he was not at home,”debayo Adeniyi said.
Pa Adebayo Adeniyiclaimed the operatives searched every room in the house, forced open wardrobes, and seized both his mobile phone and that of his wife before leaving around 1 a.m.
He further alleged that the operatives returned at about 2:30 a.m. to return the confiscated phones before departing again.
The elderly man also disclosed that the operatives came back on Monday at about 11:30 a.m. and took him to the Sunsun Divisional Police Headquarters for questioning over the whereabouts of his son.
According to him, he was released later that day after several hours of interrogation.
“They came back yesterday at about 11:30 a.m. They whisked me away and returned me at about 5 p.m.
“They were angry that I didn’t know his whereabouts. They claimed I said I didn’t know where my son lives, but I told them he lives in Abuja.
“I was not mistreated at the station. They only questioned me about my son’s whereabouts before taking me back home around 5 p.m.
“I don’t know what offence my son has committed. They only said he is wanted. They asked about his job, and I told them he said he was working for the government in Abuja.
“My son is gentle. He has never been a troublemaker, and I know he works in Abuja under the government,”debayo Adeniyi said.
Prince Adebayo Adeniyi is at the centre of the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), a purported government body whose existence has been widely questioned. The controversy escalated after Adeniyi publicly claimed to be the council’s Director-General and released appointment letters allegedly linked to the Presidency, prompting allegations of forgery, fraud and impersonation. President Bola Tinubu subsequently directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the matter, while security agencies launched efforts to locate Adeniyi for questioning.
