Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has secured the Top Model for Africa title on Thursday at the ongoing Miss World competition in Vietnam.
Her win automatically guarantees her a spot in the Top 40 quarterfinals of the 2026 Miss World pageant.
Karibi-George achieved the feat during the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII, held under the theme “Soul of Heritage,” where she outperformed contestants from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya, and South Africa to claim the continental crown.
She joins the other continental Top Model winners representing their respective regions: the Dominican Republic for the Americas and Caribbean, France for Europe, and Vietnam for Asia and Oceania
Announcing the result, the Miss World Organisation announced the results on Instagram, saying, “Congratulations to our four Continental Top Model winners, who have officially secured their places in the Top 40 quarterfinals of Miss World 2026.
“Americas & Caribbean: Dominican Republic; Africa: Nigeria; Europe: France; Asia & Oceania: Vietnam.
“One winner from each continent earned a coveted place in the Top 40 after standing out during the Top Model competition at Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII: ‘Soul of Heritage.’
“But the competition isn’t over yet: one of these four continental winners will be named the overall Top Model winner and earn a direct place in the Top 20!”
Top model
The Miss World Top 40 will feature 10 delegates from each of the four continental zones: Africa, Americas and Caribbean, Asia and Oceania, and Europe.
Following the naming of the overall Top Model winner—who will earn a direct spot in the Top 20—the remaining Top 40 placements will be allocated through fast-track challenges, including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head, and Multimedia.
Karibi-George’s Top Model win follows her strong performance in the Head-to-Head Challenge, where she advanced as a continental finalist.
South Africa’s Romanda Hombir ultimately won the African round of the Head-to-Head Challenge, securing an automatic place in the Top 40.
On June 6, 26-year-old Tamunosoye Karibi-George from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, won the Miss World Nigeria 2026 title at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos after defeating 20 other contestants.
She succeeded Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Bayelsa State in the previous national competition, represented Nigeria at the last Miss World pageant and finished in the Top 20.

Backstory…
Tamunosoye Karibi-George’s victory in the Africa Top Model competition is not the first time a Nigerian representative has made a major impact in the Miss World Top Model category. In 2017, Nigeria’s Ugochi Mitchell Ihezue won the Miss World Top Model title and advanced to the Top 15 of the competition.
Two years later, Nyekachi Douglas took it even further. Representing Nigeria at Miss World 2019, Douglas won the Top Model competition, becoming one of the automatic quarter-finalists. She went on to finish in the Top 5, while also winning the Miss World Africa title.
