The NFL confirmed rapper Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show in February 2027.
Although he has never performed at the NFL championship game, Jay-Z’s company Roc Nation has produced the halftime show since 2019. Speculation surrounding potential guest performers has already begun, with observers highlighting his wife, Beyoncé, as a prime candidate.
Super Bowl LXI will take place on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles.
The hip-hop icon joins a recent headline lineup featuring The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Usher, and Rihanna.
The halftime show commands massive international viewership despite originating as a uniquely American sporting event.
Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 performance won the Emmy for Outstanding Music Direction and broke records as the most-watched halftime show in history.
The announcement followed two Los Angeles stadium concerts by Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter at SoFi Stadium, the host venue for the upcoming Super Bowl.
The Los Angeles dates formed part of a broader tour commemorating the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z’s 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
“From ‘Reasonable Doubt’ to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” said Jay-Z.
“Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
