The Nigerian Air Force has received military hardware from the United States.
The United States Africa Command, or AFRICOM, made this announcement on its official website on Thursday.
The delivery is a component of initiatives to bolster both nations’ security cooperation and assist Nigeria in its battle against terrorism.
The equipment was supplied to the Nigerian Air Force over the weekend by a US Air Force C-17 aircraft, according to AFRICOM.
“PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION: A U.S. Air Force C-17 delivers equipment to the Nigerian Air Force this weekend,” AFRICOM said in a post.
AFRICOM said the delivery followed a Foreign Military Sales agreement between the United States and Nigeria.
“The equipment is part of a foreign military sales agreement that furthers the U.S.-Nigerian partnership and will aid in Nigeria’s efforts to counter terrorism in the region,” AFRICOM said.
The delivery highlights the continued defence and security cooperation between both countries, particularly in supporting Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism and address other regional security challenges.

The United States and Nigeria have increasingly focused on intelligence sharing, military training and the use of advanced surveillance technology to strengthen counterterrorism operations.
In August 2026, US personnel trained Nigerian Air Force Special Forces in the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in Bauchi, including how to integrate drones into tactical missions.
In May 2026, Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters said it was conducting coordinated operations with US Africa Command (AFRICOM) against ISIS militants in the northeast.
The military announced the killing of over 20 suspected ISIS and ISWAP terrorists following a coordinated airstrike operations launched by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Borno State.
According to reports, the operation targeted terrorist hideouts near Metele, a northern Borno hamlet that is regularly targeted by rebels.
