Nicki Minaj Follows Peter Obi on X After Reposting His Security Post

American rapper Nicki Minaj followed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi on X shortly after reposting his message about the alleged killings and kidnappings in Niger State.

A DAILY POST check found that Obi is the only 2027 presidential candidate Nicki Minaj follows on the platform.

Minaj followed Obi shortly after reposting a message he published on Wednesday, in which he condemned the alleged killings and kidnappings in Niger State and described them as a systemic devaluation of human life.

Obi also called for intelligence-driven action against criminal networks responsible for kidnappings and attacks across the country.

Nigerians and social media users in the country and abroad reacted to her repost, with many praising the rapper for drawing attention to the security concerns and calling for justice and safety in affected areas.

Backstory…

On September 15, following the gruesome attack on Borgu community in Niger State, Peter Obi said “The reports emerging from Borgu, Niger State, are becoming increasingly difficult to comprehend and deeply painful to contemplate. On 27 August, I expressed my anguish over the reported abduction of about 600 Nigerians, many of them women, children and elderly people, alongside the killing of others. I described it then as “one case too many” and urged that it be treated with the urgency it deserved.

Today, that anguish has become even deeper. We are now confronted with continuing reports of the gruesome killing of some of those abducted, while many others remain unaccounted for.

In another disturbing incident, a bandit group reportedly beheaded a Nigerian and sent his severed head to a community leader over a ₦50 million levy. If the reported killing was intended to increase pressure on the community and extract more money for those still being held, then we must recognise the terrible reality before us: human life is being deliberately turned into a bargaining instrument.
