Why Dino Melaye Made the Statement
Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, responded to his suspension from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by comparing himself to a breeze, implying he cannot be contained or restricted. He accused the PDP Acting Chairman, Illiya Damagun, of being the root cause of the party’s issues, claiming that Damagun’s selfish interests are driving internal conflicts. Melaye’s defiant stance came after his suspension from his local ward, leading him to criticize the party leadership, dismissing the move as ineffective.
What Led to His Suspension
Dino Melaye was suspended by the PDP executives in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, following allegations of anti-party activities and misconduct. The suspension came after he failed to honor a summons issued by the ward’s disciplinary committee. The decision to suspend him was reached during a meeting in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1, after a review of the committee’s report. The resolution was signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Yodson Dayo, accusing Melaye of undermining the party’s interests.
