Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has expressed sadness over the recent bandit attacks on Dangulbi community in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Tambuwal condemned the killings, destruction of property and displacement of residents caused by the attacks, describing the incidents as another painful reminder of the security challenges facing communities in the state.

He called for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities from further attacks.

“I am deeply saddened by the attacks on Dangulbi community. These repeated attacks on innocent citizens are painful, unacceptable and a threat to the peace and security of our people,” he stated.

Tambuwal extended his condolences to families of those killed in the attacks and wished those injured a quick recovery. He also sympathised with residents forced to flee their homes as a result of the violence.

The senator prayed for the souls of the victims and called for the safe return of those reportedly abducted during the attacks.

He further urged security agencies to intensify efforts toward restoring peace and improving security across the Sokoto-Zamfara axis, stressing that residents deserve to live and work without fear.

Tambuwal also appealed to residents to remain united and continue supporting lawful efforts aimed at tackling insecurity and achieving lasting peace in affected communities.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that will strengthen security and protect lives and property in Sokoto State and across Nigeria.

The attacks in Dangulbi community reportedly claimed at least 17 lives on Sunday, including visitors who travelled to the area for Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. Several shops were looted, while many residents fled into nearby forests for safety.

Reports further indicated that another attack occurred less than 48 hours later, leading to more casualties and renewed concerns over insecurity in the area.
