The APC governors forum, known as the Progressive Governors Forum(PGF), has now split into two factions.

Following the purported removal of its chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma, on Thursday, the opposing groups surfaced.

Despite Uzodimma’s insistence that he remains chairman of the PGF, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq are reportedly leading another bloc within the forum.

Reports also indicate that a separate faction of APC governors has aligned with AbdulRazaq and Abiodun.

The development points to a deepening division among APC governors ahead of the 2027 general elections, amid growing political realignments within the ruling party.

The specifics of the dispute are yet unknown, according to Arise TV reports, but party sources claimed that tensions had been rising over internal leadership control and strategic positioning in advance of the upcoming election season.

BACKSTORY…

This comes following widely spread reports that APC governors forum, had earlier fired Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma as its chairman.

However, the group did not clearly state the reasons for the removal.

After the development, more than twenty governors reportedly appointed Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah as the head of the Progressive Governors Forum.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Folorunsho Aluko, has dismissed reports alleging the removal of Hope Uzodimma as chairman of the forum.

In a statement issued on Friday morning, Aluko said the forum did not hold any meeting on the matter and that it took no such decision.

He said, “No meeting of the forum was held at which any such decision was taken. The PGF Secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the chairman.”

He also aded that “His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, remains the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.”
