Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, claims that Nigerians’ rising trust in the ruling party is shown in the consistent rise in the number of governors elected on the All Progressives Congress platform(APC).
Speaking at the end of the two-day Progressive Governors’ Forum conference in Lagos on Saturday, Sanwo-Olu stated that the increase from “barely 18 or 19” governors in prior years to 25 now demonstrates that Nigerians still have faith in the APC’s leadership and vision.
“We are now 25 progressive governors. When we began, we were barely 18 or 19. This growth shows that Nigerians trust our party’s direction,” he said.
The forum’s host, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, applauded his colleagues for their devotion to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and their dedication to national development.
Additionally, the governor praised the unity and cultural representation displayed during the meeting, describing it as a strong demonstration of “unity in diversity.”
“I want to sincerely thank my colleagues for staying through more than 12 hours of rigorous discussions. It is never easy, but you all showed exceptional commitment to the progress of our nation,” he said.
“You came prepared, you represented your states beautifully, and Lagos is proud to host you. People back home will ask you for this cultural experience because you truly showed what unity in diversity means,” he added.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also declared that on December 27, Lagos would hold its first cultural festival in almost ten years, with an estimated 10,000 locals attending.
He claimed that the governors examined important national concerns during the conference, particularly security and welfare, and decided to present the president with suggestions as a group.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu , who referred to President Tinubu as “a father, leader, and humble statesman,” reiterated the forum’s allegiance to him.
The governor added that unity within the party improves the efficacy of administration and thanked the PGF members for their ongoing support of Lagos as “a model of progressive governance.”

“We will not disappoint our party at the national, regional or state levels. Lagos understands its leadership responsibilities, and we are ready and fully committed,”
“We remain committed, we remain progressive, and we remain focused on delivering for our people. Lagos will continue to stand strong for the progress of our party and our nation,” he added.
