In a recent interview with Clout Africa, Bella Shmurda explained that after observing how demanding and stressful internet fraud could be, he chose to create a song that speaks to the experiences of Yahoo boys and motivates them.
During the interview, the host asked him, “What inspired Cash App? Were you involved in Yahoo?”
Bella Shmurda replied: “It is Yahoo in the sense that they [Yahoo boys] have to dance. These people that are hustling, you have to make them happy. Because internet fraud is stressful. It has a lot of challenges.

“The truth is, when it comes to inspiration, you don’t have any story behind it. It is natural, it just comes. It is God-given. So, Cash App is divine.”
Bella Shmurda released Cash App, which featured rappers Zlatan and Lincoln, in 2020. The song became an instant hit in Nigeria and other African countries.
