The Benue killings continues to rise as suspected Fulani herdsmen have been reported to have killed a security guard at the Otobi Dam in Benue State’s Otukpo Local Government Area late Friday night.
Following a series of fatal attacks around Otukpo and its environs, in recent weeks, this is the most recent attack that has occurred.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the murdered guard has not been officially released, and no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
NaijaEyes reports the recent Benue insecurity crisis in Benue including previous kidnap attempts, protests in the state following the Benue killings and an abduction of 14 Benue links travelers early this week.
Angbo Kennedy, a politician from the Benue State House of Assembly who representing the Otukpo/Akpa State Constituency, acknowledged the most recent attack and stated that immediate action was required to halt the evil.

He said, “This is becoming too much, a guard was killed this evening at the Otobi dam by herdsmen. Please let’s watch out for each other. We must resort to self help.”
Residents have urgently requested that the Benue State Government and security forces increase patrols and send additional officers to rural areas, especially those near vital infrastructure such as the Otobi Dam.

The attack at Otobi comes after earlier this year, similar killings occurred in the towns of Okpomaju, Okete, and Asa within Otukpo LGA, leaving several people dead and others displaced.
