Everybody Jenifer’ Could Earn Funke Akindele N5Bn

Everybody Loves Jenifa isn’t Funke Akindele’s latest work; it’s bringing roughly $5 billion to the box office.
History recorded Akindele with this film—as making the film previous to such breaking record “A Tribe Called Judah”—to become the first Nollywood movie to raise above N1 billion in 2023.

The film revenues have also accumulated in 2023 to a sum total of N1.4 billion, and predictions of Akindele are that this new one will break the target of the last one and surpass the N5 billion mark.

Nile Entertainment, which is under Moses Babatunde, will distribute ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ to some 30 cinemas internationally, including Australia, the US, and the United Kingdom.

Currently through the UK, US, Canada, and Australia, the cinemas’ average ticket prices are $10.90, $8, respectively, and $12.95; this is what Akindele hopes to beat for a Nigerian film.

She is banking on the skit to draw in numbers to the cinema. In September, after shooting for the film, Akindele brought in John Demps, the cinematographer of the film, for the promotion.

As is the skit in which Akindele and the whole cast of Everybody Loves Jenifa and that of A Tribe Called Judah engaged in a tug of war to prove who is stronger but ended up losing.

Already made in opening weekend numbers recorded for ‘Everyone Loves Jenifa on December 13, 2024, it realized the first record as the highest-grossing single-day performance in Nigerian cinema annals. An astonishing N87.8 million worth of income was generated. It also registered a new record for opening weekend attendance in 2024, drawing 38,353 eager audiences.

Well, there is a fair bit of questioning around those figures, taking into account what the Nigerians have with respect to their buying power and whether or not the N5 billion target is feasible.
