A man faces consequences after issuing a death threat against the EFCC chairman on Instagram.
Kayode Cole has found himself in trouble for threatening the executive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede. He was arrested in Abuja’s Lugbe area after making the threat on Instagram under the handle “1billionsecretss” in response to an Instablog9ja post on February 1.
Instablog9ja had shared a story about a religious sect allegedly laundering money for terrorists, which prompted Cole’s threatening comment. He stated that the EFCC chairman would be dead in six months.
During interrogation, Cole claimed he was merely seeking attention, a behavior commonly known as “chasing clout.”
The EFCC announced the arrest through a statement on its official platform, emphasizing the seriousness of the threat. Cole will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
The statement also mentioned recent convictions secured by the EFCC, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to combating crime. In one case, individuals were convicted for counterfeiting and possessing counterfeit currency. While some pleaded guilty, others maintained their innocence.
Overall, the EFCC remains vigilant in its efforts to uphold the law and ensure justice prevails.
