National Grid to Expand by 150MW Before Year’s End
The Federal Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced strategic plans to expand the national gris by an additional 150MW before the end of the year, which is less than 14 days to go.
The minister made the statement on Thursday during a briefing with State House Correspondents following a close door meeting between German President Frank-Walter and Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Adebayo disclosed that the ongoing to upgrade the National Grid is the result of significant progress in the pilot phase of the Presidential Power Intiative.(PPI).
He said we have have concluded and completed on the pilot phrase of this project up to 80%. This includes the importation, installation and commissioning of the 10 power transformers and , 10 power mobile stations. These transformers and substations have been imported and installed, most of them have been commissioned.
He went ahead to state the postive impact, stating that it has added nothing less than 750MW to the transmission grid and capacity.
“The positive impact of this is that it has added nothing less than 750 megawatts to our transmission grid capacity. This is why we are seeing a relative stable power today.
