Tinubu’s administration mandates the sale of IBEDC and four other Discos within 90 days.
The federal government has ordered the resale of electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) currently managed by banks and AMCON within 90 days to reputable power operators. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, stated that tough decisions would be taken due to the DisCos’ poor performance, impacting the entire sector. He emphasized the need for technical expertise in running DisCos and disclosed plans to bridge the nation’s metering gap. The Senate has summoned Adelabu and NERC for an investigative hearing on the recent electricity tariff hike. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe highlighted concerns over the poor power situation, urging action.
