Tinubu’s Foreign Travel Costs N2.3bn in Six Months Despite Inflation.
Despite the ongoing economic hardship and high inflation in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has spent over N2.3 billion on foreign trips between February and July 2024. This amount covers various travel expenses and related costs. Notably, the President’s trips include visits to countries like Ethiopia, Switzerland, and France.
Amid public outcry for improved governance and economic relief, including protests and demands for a reversal of fuel subsidies, Tinubu’s expenditures have attracted criticism. The spending includes payments for trips and foreign exchange, with additional costs for acquiring a new private jet for official use.
Inflation in Nigeria slowed slightly in July, but the country’s cost-of-living crisis continues to be a significant concern.
