Boyfriend stabs girlfriend stabbed to death during heated argument
The Akwa Ibom State Police command corroborated the death of a young lady, Ruth Sunday, who was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend due to a fierce quarrel at Qua River Quarters in Eket Local Government Area of the state on May 6.
In a statement released, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, revealed that preliminary investigations revealed that the couple engaged in a fierce fight with a kitchen knife during which both sustained stab wounds.
“At about 10:15 AM on the 6th of May, 2025, the operatives of the Command received a report of a violent fight at Qua River Quarters, Eket.
When the officers got there, they discovered a woman, later identified as Ruth Ngozi Sunday, and her boyfriend who resided with her, in a pool of blood.
Preliminary investigation has shown that the two engaged in a fatal struggle with a kitchen knife, during which both of them sustained stab wounds. What prompted the fight is not yet known as of now,” the statement continued.
Police imakemaker said Ruth was deceased on the scene, but her critically wounded boyfriend was rushed to hospital along with her. Ruth was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The suspected murder weapon has since been recovered, and they are attempting to track down relatives of the boyfriend while the family members of the deceased have been notified.
