Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has felicitated Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The governor described the celebration as an opportunity for Muslims and Nigerians generally to reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet, particularly his virtues of compassion, humility, tolerance, justice, selflessness and peaceful coexistence.
Abiodun urged Muslims to ensure that the lessons of Eid-el-Maulud go beyond the celebration itself, stressing that the values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remain important to the development of a peaceful, united and prosperous society.
He said the occasion should remind Nigerians of the enduring values of love, patience, compassion, humility, justice and peaceful coexistence that characterised the life of the Prophet.
The governor also called on Muslims and religious leaders to use the celebration to strengthen the bonds of unity, brotherhood and friendship among Nigerians, irrespective of their religious, ethnic or political backgrounds.
He urged the Muslim faithful to continue praying for peace, stability and prosperity in Ogun State and the country, while encouraging citizens to avoid actions capable of undermining national unity and peaceful coexistence.
Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, peaceful coexistence and the implementation of programmes and projects aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents.
He further encouraged Muslims to extend the spirit of charity and compassion associated with Eid-el-Maulud to vulnerable and less privileged members of society, noting that caring for those in need is a shared responsibility.
The governor prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the prayers and acts of worship of the Muslim faithful, grant families peace and prosperity, and continue to bless Ogun State and Nigeria.
He said the celebration should bring renewed hope, peace and prosperity to Nigerians while praying for divine guidance and wisdom for the country’s leaders.
