His remarks were seen as offensive by some Northerners, including Senator Shehu Sani, who called for an apology. However, Fayose clarified that his comments were not targeted at any specific region and emphasized the need to address the country’s population issues. He stated that he has no apology to offer as he did not intend to insult anyone or any region.
