Labour Demands N250k Minimum Wage to Combat Inflation

Labour Demands N250k Minimum Wage to Combat Inflation.

Organised Labour has urged President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate his support for Nigerian workers by approving a N250,000 minimum wage to match current inflation. Prince Adewale Adeyanju, President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), criticized state governors for hindering wage negotiations. He mentioned that while the Organised Labour had proposed N250,000, government and OPS recommended N62,000. Adeyanju emphasized the dire economic conditions and appealed to Tinubu to prioritize workers’ welfare over the interests of state governors, arguing that the economy can support the higher wage demand.
