Sara Maleka from the Mafube Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit. Lethebe was apprehended the same day and remained in custody throughout the trial.

The diligent efforts of Sgt. Maleka, along with the prosecutorial work of prosecutor Mthetwa, were instrumental in ensuring Lethebe’s conviction. Sgt. Sinah Mpakane, a police spokesperson, praised their work, highlighting that the 15-year sentence sends a clear message that the justice system will not tolerate the abuse of women and children.
