A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake rocked Myanmar a broad area of Southeast Asia on Friday, causing severe casualties.
The earthquake has resulted in reduced skyscrapers from Myanmar to Thailand. damaged roads, with at least 140 deaths confirmed.
The earthquake was mostly centered in Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city. However, the quake’s impact was felt in Bangkok, Thailand, approximately 600 miles away, causing serious damage, including the complete collapse of a 30 story skyscraper still under construction.
According to the first official death toll released by the military government, nearly 150 people have been confirmed dead in Myanmar, more than 730 injured, and several others still trapped under the rubble while others have reported missing.
Authorities have warned that casualties may continue to rise as search and rescue efforts are in progress in collapsed buildings in Myanmar to Thailand.
Following the massive earthquake, frightened onlookers captured the earthquake’s chaos on videos which have not circulated the internet.

The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio has expressed her sympathy following the sad incident and damages that occurred. Taking to her social media, she wrote “My prayers go out to the people of Burma and Thailand who are impacted by the earthquake,” he wrote. “We’ve been in contact with these countries and, as @POTUS said, stand ready to provide assistance.”
