The Federal Government initiates the enforcement of the right of way for the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

The Federal Government has initiated the demolition of properties along the right of way for the Lagos-Calabar superhighway, starting from the Lagos end.

Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, launched the exercise over the weekend and assured affected individuals that it would be conducted with sensitivity.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser (Media), Orji Uchenna Orji, in Abuja, Umahi emphasized that the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway would signify a significant step in the government’s Renewed Hope roadmap for economic diversification.

Umahi stated, “We are making some minor adjustments, and our commitment is to adhere to the coastline.

Despite extending the initial demolition notice by seven days and later another four days, some areas remained affected, halting progress on the project. I commend individuals like Mr. Bolaji for their cooperation.”

During the flag-off of the demolition, Umahi emphasized, “This demolition will be carried out with compassion and a deep sense of responsibility. With reverence to God and dedication to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, particularly in infrastructure development, I officially commence this demolition to secure the right of way within the coastal corridor, which is the rightful domain of the Federal Government.”
