Dele Farotimi has just been granted N30 million in bail by the Ekiti State Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, over the alleged defamation suit filed against him by Afe Babalola (SAN).
Abayomi Adeosun, the Chief Magistrate, said Farotimi must meet all his bail conditions of providing two sureties with one of them a house owner in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Also part of his bail conditions is for Farotimi to submit his international passport and refrain from granting media interviews, both print and online, while the case is ongoing.
The court has also ordered the stop of the sales of Farotimi’s book, titled “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System,” which led to his arrest following the petition for defamation by Afe Babalola.
The charge suit, number MAD/1,476.C/2024, pits the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police as the complainant against Farotimi as the defendant.
Security officers were heavily present at the court venue following the hearing of the case.
