Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Bans Public Demonstrations Over Emirate Dispute, Orders Arrest of Protesters.
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has issued a ban on all public demonstrations within the state. This directive includes the arrest of individuals participating in such activities. The announcement, made by the governor’s Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, emphasized that the measure aims to prevent any disruptions to public order.
The government’s decision is based on intelligence suggesting that opposition figures are planning to incite unrest by mobilizing student groups and political agitators, purportedly to protest in favor of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero. The governor has warned that any demonstrations, protests, or processions will lead to immediate arrests.
Governor Yusuf has called on residents to maintain their daily routines, assuring them that the government is committed to preserving the peace and monitoring the situation closely to thwart any attempts to destabilize the state.
