Speaker Promises More Dividends for Nigerians on Democracy Day.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, marked Democracy Day and the 25th anniversary of unbroken democracy with a statement from Abuja, highlighting the strides Nigeria has made and the promise of more dividends of democracy reaching its people.

Abbas acknowledged Nigeria’s evolution over the past 25 years, affirming that democracy has firmly taken root in the country. He recognized that while there have been challenges, Nigeria has navigated these learning curves successfully, indicating growth in democratic experience and practice.

Emphasizing the significance of the occasion, Abbas noted that this year’s celebration coincided with the first anniversary of the 10th National Assembly, inaugurated on June 13, 2023.

The Speaker called on Nigerians, irrespective of tribal, religious, gender, or age differences, to contribute actively to the nation’s growth and development. He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, envisioning a nation that citizens can take pride in.

Abbas urged continued support for governments at all levels and emphasized the importance of citizens’ roles as critical stakeholders in ensuring the success of government plans, policies, and programs. He concluded by urging Nigerians to uphold law and order, underscoring that the collective effort of all Nigerians is essential for the nation’s progress and prosperity.
