The defection of former state governor Ifeanyi Okowa, governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and other PDP leaders to the All Progressives Congress has been criticized by Delta State’s Obidient Movement as a devastating betrayal of the electorate’s electoral will.
The Obedient Elders Forum’s Delta State Coordinator, Chris Biose, spoke to reporters in Asaba on Friday and voiced his concerns over what he described as the “diversion of the mandate given to Oborevwori by the Delta electorate.”

He said, “The act of diverting the sacred mandate of Delta State electorates to another political party is a grievous betrayal of the electoral will of Deltans. It is an assault on party loyalty and the principle of democratic representation”.
In addition to dismissing the defectors’ claims that the action was meant to promote state growth, he attacked them, accusing them of lacking principles, ideology, values, and ideals.

According to Biose, the goal of the mass defection from PDP was to align with the centre-right ruling party in order to rig upcoming elections, especially the 2027 elections.

He cautioned that the action could subject the state to deeper instability and governance issues
