The PDP Governors forum has quickly distanced itself from the Atiku-led opposition coalition aimed at unseating President Tinubu
The Forum, led by Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, declared that with the 2027 polls in sight, it has no intention to form any alliances.
It revealed this on Monday at a meeting in the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan.

The Forum further escalated the dispute over the party’s legitimate national secretary by supporting Setonji Koshoedo, the Deputy National Secretary, as Acting National Secretary.
Recall that the formation of an opposition alliance was announced by Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate of the PDP.
Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, and Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, are rumored to be part of the coalition.
The coalition was announced following El-Rufai’s switch from the All Progressives Congress to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

El-Rufai had claimed that since Tinubu took office, the APC had lacked internal democracy.
Atiku and Obi were reportedly in talks to join the SDP, according to Adewale Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s last presidential candidate.
He further claimed that Atiku, Obi, and other well-known politicians who are open to joining the SDP will beat and retire Tinubu and the APC if they adhere to the party’s values.
Meanwhile, Buba Galadima, a leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), stated that El-Rufai was Atiku’s stand-in in the SDP in the event that the PDP refused to provide him a presidential ticket.
Following this, Bode George, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) official and member of the party’s board of trustees has also declared that Atiku Abubakar be the opposition party’s presidential candidate in 2027.

He made this revelation during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Monday. He stated that a northern candidate running for office in 2027 is against the PDP’s internal zoning regulations.
He said, “Atiku can’t be the PDP presidential candidate in 2027. Our internal zoning policy makes it compulsory to be eight years for the South and North. If Atiku emerges as the PDP candidate in 2027 by any means, the party will collapse.”
