Senate stands firm on Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension and says on reversal.
The Senate rejected reversing the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central. The ruling issued on Monday, March 10 says that it aligns with the constitution and will not be overturned.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has also questioned the Federal High Court’s Jurisdiction over the matter, arguing that it falls under the Senate’s Internal affairs and should not be subjected to external reference.
Following this, Justice Obiora Egwuatu has adjourned the case until March 25, 2025 after confirming that all parties involved have been properly served with court documents.
Senate spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu, in an interview with The Punch, on Monday, dismissed any pressure to reinstate Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, emphasising that the legislative body would adhere strictly to its rules.
