“The Federal Executive Council and President Tinubu abolish the Ministry of Sports Development and the Niger Delta Ministry.
All regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the North West Development Commission, the South West Development Commission, and the North East Development Commission, will now be supervised by a ministry of regional development.
“The Ministry of Sports will be replaced by the National Sports Commission.
The FEC also gave its approval to the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy and the Ministry of Tourism merging,” Onanuga stated. According to his spokeswoman, Tinubu plans to reorganize his cabinet and might do so before October 1st.
The president has stated that he wants to rearrange his cabinet, and he will carry out his intention. He will undoubtedly do it before October 1st, but I’m not sure if he wants to. I’ll say that, but he hasn’t provided us with a timeline,” spokeswoman Bayo Onanuga told reporters on Wednesday.
It is anticipated that some ministers would be removed.
While others might be transferred to different ministries. The “President has ordered all his ministers to go out there and speak about the activities of his administration at the last Federal Executive Council meeting,” Mr. Onanuga continued.
He wants people to get over their media shyness, television shyness, and radio shyness so they may talk about what they have been accomplishing.Since the government has been doing a lot, there is a perception that it is not doing enough. And it is their responsibility to take the initiative and brag about themselves. Mr. Onanuga suggested that they go out there and discuss the activities of respective ministries. In August 2023, the Nigerian leader named 45 of the 48 ministers he had submitted to the Senate. Stella Okete of Delta State, former acting governor of Taraba State Abubakar Danladi, and former governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna.
Since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1999
Mr. Tinubu has had one of the biggest Federal Executive Councils. Twenty of the special advisers on the Council were approved by the Senate for the president.
The nature of the reshuffle remains unknown. However, some Nigerians who are worried about the exorbitant expense of governance have already criticized the president’s cabinet.
