Rabiu kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwankwaso not leaving NDC, says spokesman amid clarification on alleged dispute over candidate list.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that its leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, plans to leave the party.

The movement’s spokesperson, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, described the claims involving Rabiu Kwankwaso as false and baseless.

He said the group had already conducted its primaries in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable and procedures.

“According to the law and the INEC timetable, we conducted our primaries on the 29th of last month across the country. Before that date, there were processes that led to consensus, and candidates emerged for each position. There were no complaints from any segment of party members or contestants,” he said.

He added that the process was successful and that the results had already been submitted to the party leadership for further action.

“We have already forwarded the results to the party, which will now take the necessary next steps,” he stated.

The spokesperson further insisted that there was no discussion at any point about Kwankwaso exiting the party.

“There was never a time it was discussed that our party leader is leaving the party. That is our position,” he said.

He urged the public to ignore the rumours, stressing that the movement remains united and focused.

The clarification follows reports alleging that Rabiu Kwankwaso was threatening to withdraw his political structure from the NDC.

The tension was said to have stemmed from claims that the party leadership replaced several Kano candidates submitted by the Kwankwasiyya bloc, amid an alleged 60/40 power-sharing arrangement designed to favor Kwankwaso’s group.

Earlier reports had also gone viral on social media, suggesting that Kwankwaso, the NDC vice presidential candidate, intended to leave the party over disputes on the acceptance of consensus candidates from Kano State.
