NLC Defends Statement on Betrayal Allegation.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has refuted the presidency’s denial that fuel price increases were not discussed during minimum wage negotiations. NLC President Joe Ajaero stated that the labor opted for a N70,000 minimum wage, down from N250,000, under the understanding that fuel prices would not rise. The presidency, through Senior Special Assistant Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, denied any such agreement. In response, the NLC reaffirmed its stance, criticizing Abdulaziz for what they called “selective amnesia” and “insulting the intelligence of Nigerians.” The NLC emphasized that the government’s policies are worsening living conditions and vowed to stand by their claims.
