Scholes: Amorim Needs to Replace Four Man Utd Starters

Former Manchester United playmaker Paul Scholes listed four players that current manager Ruben Amorim needs to replace at club level.

Speaking on The Overlap, Scholes claimed that United would “not win the Premier League” with such a central defensive pairing of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

The Red Devils have failed to click under Amorim, coming in to replace Erik ten Hag following the November international break, and currently lie on the 13th position in the league table.

“There have been a few concerning things.

“There is a lot of stuff that has to be done; everyone knows that, more so during transfer windows.

“But I do not see a core group of players who are going to compete. The spine of Liverpool’s team stands in strong contrast. I don’t think there’s any spine like that in any position for Manchester United.

“New keeper and maybe need two centre-halves, midfielder and one forward. They need to create a spine to then build on it.

“Yoro’s a young kid but not impressed with what I’ve seen so far. Did you see him vs. Southampton? Just shows he’s a young player and I think it could be worth keeping him around.”
