FCT should be free from criminals – CTJF Chairman

Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, announced that it is earnestly working to support security agencies in Abuja to put an end to banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes.

The Chairman, Kailani Muhammad, mentioned this at the inauguration of the Civilian Joint Task Force operational office in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr Muhammad stated that the Civilian Joint Task Force echoes the warning the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, gave to the perpetrators of crime in Abuja.

“We are supporting him (Wike) 100 per cent, and we are working tirelessly to flush them out. This is the Federal Capital Territory, and it should be free from all these criminals.”

“Today, our farmers cannot farm because of insecurity. This has affected even food production as bandits and other criminals don’t allow people to farm. That is why, apart from fuel subsidy, the hardship caused by food insecurity also makes Nigerians cry out.”

Muhammad implored the Criminal Joint Task Force personnel to ensure that they discharge their duties with honesty, sincerity, and discipline. He encouraged them to work hand in hand with security agencies to foster peace and stability in Nigeria.

He added that over 100 volunteers of Civilian Joint Task Force have lost their lives in the fight against insurgency and banditry. He called these deaths  a sacrifice to achieve the goal of peace and unity in the country.

“CJTF have been going into forests and bushes without fear and arrested these criminals even with their cows. I think you have done a lot, and you deserve commendation.”

”I hope that one day, CJTF will be fully established with take-home pay and the necessary equipment to work with so that Nigerians can sleep with their two eyes closed.”

Olatunji Disu, the FCT Police Commissioner, reiterated the force’s support for the Civilian Joint Task Force in bringing the criminals in Abuja to book. In his words:

The FCT police command has always engaged the Civilian Joint Task Force and Nigerian hunters in one operation or the other, and they have always excelled and made us proud in carrying out our respective national assignments.”

“The most important of all is the fact that CJTF is very close to the members of the public, and for that closeness, we have always leveraged on that.”
