The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) would not secure up to 10 percent of votes in Rivers State during the 2027 elections.
Wike made the statement while speaking at a luncheon organised in honour of candidates of the Rainbow Coalition for the 2027 general elections in the state.
The former Rivers State governor also insisted that no governorship candidate outside the coalition endorsed by his political camp would emerge victorious in the state.
According to him, both the ADC and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lack electoral experience and are unfamiliar with practical politics.
“ADC and NDC have never contested and won elections before. What they understand is defection, not elections. This is the time they will experience real politics, starting from Rivers State,” Wike said.
He further stated that political loyalty should be measured by the ability to deliver votes rather than public declarations of support.
“It is not enough to appear on television and profess love for the President. True commitment is shown through the number of votes you can deliver during elections, not by paying visits,” he added.
Wike recalled that Atiku failed to secure up to 10 percent of votes in Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election, adding that his camp would ensure the ADC performs poorly in the next poll.
“Atiku did not get up to 10 percent in Rivers in 2023, and we will ensure ADC does not get up to that in 2027,” he stated.
He also stressed that political success requires hard work and determination, noting that his camp had previously won elections in the state despite facing intimidation.
